Tuesday 17th October - Yr 3-6 students at Newtown Park, and Wednesday 25 October - Year 0-2 students at School
Our Year 3-6 Amesbury School Athletics day is coming up very early in Term 4 on Tuesday 17 October (Week 1). Students who are in Year 3-6 will travel to Newtown Park to use the track, while students who are in Year 0-2 will enjoy their athletics day back at Amesbury School on Wednesday 25th October.Year 3-6 information
We will be leaving school by bus at 9:20am and returning just before 3pm. As this is part of our school sports program, all students are expected to participate unless they have a specific reason not to.
On the day, students will need:
- plenty of food and water
- sunblock
- school sunhat and polar fleece (as it is a summer term, students need sunhats to participate in outside activities)
- appropriate running clothes and footwear (bare feet are also fine)
- warm clothing and wet weather gear (just in case it is blowing a gale or the rain sets in)
For Year 4-6 students we use our athletics day to help us select the team to compete in Northern Zone Athletics. For the throwing and jumping events, there are qualifying marks that students must reach in order to be considered. Selection in running races will be based on whether students will be competitive at the Northern Zone event. If for any reason your child is not able to compete at our athletics day, they will still be taken into consideration when selecting the team. Harakeke Hub have been regularly practicing athletics during Term 3, so we have a fair idea of what each student is capable of.
Year 0-2 information
The Year 0-2 students will enjoy a range of athletic activities at Amesbury School, in Week 3, on Wednesday 25th October from 10:30 - 12.30pm
We will provide more information about the structure of this day closer to the time. On the day, students will need:
- plenty of food and water
- sunblock
- school sunhat and polar fleece (as it is a summer term, students need sunhats to participate in outside activities)
- appropriate running clothes and footwear (barefeet is also fine)
- warm clothing and wet weather gear (just in case it is blowing a gale or the rain sets in)
